RURAL MARKET : Increased rural prosperity is showing up in income and consumption. FICCI estimates show that RURAL INDIA's share in total consumption of FMCG (e.g. toothpaste, cream, food products) and consumer durables has exceeded the urban India's share. Even, according to NCAER, the percentage of very poor families in RURAL INDIA (annual income Rs.16,000 or less) will fall from 61.4% in 1994-95 to just 27% in 2008-09. Indeed, it is matter of worry that spurious and duplicate manufacturers have invaded the rural market of the fast moving consumer items. Why it is happening? KHETI DUNIYAN surveyed and observed that all the big consumer items manufacturer companies, having the name of big publications in their media-list and ignoring the rural vernacular publications.
